Sometimes life is good. Sometimes it’s tough. We’re in a season of tough.
I love this song, The Cave by Mumford and Sons. The lyrics are posted below.
Just as if I were at a skating party; I dedicate this song to Tim.
It’s empty in the valley of your heart
The sun, it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears
And all the faults you’ve left behind
The harvest left no food for you to eat
You cannibal, you meat-eater, you see
But I have seen the same
I know the shame in your defeat
But I will hold on hope
And I won’t let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I’ll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I’ll know my name as it’s called again
Cause I have other things to fill my time
You take what is yours and I’ll take mine
Now let me at the truth
Which will refresh my broken mind
So tie me to a post and block my ears
I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults
And despite my growing fears
But I will hold on hope
And I won’t let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I’ll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I’ll know my name as it’s called again
So come out of your cave walking on your hands
And see the world hanging upside down
You can understand dependence
When you know the maker’s hand
So make your siren’s call
And sing all you want
I will not hear what you have to say
Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it’s meant to be
And I will hold on hope
And I won’t let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I’ll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I’ll know my name as it’s called again
Psalm 33
But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
19 to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine.
20 We wait in hope for the LORD;
he is our help and our shield.
21 In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
22 May your unfailing love be with us, LORD,
even as we put our hope in you.

I’m so glad I know the Maker’s hand.
Livy,
Josh and i discovered mumford and sons about a year ago. They really know how to say the things my heart is breaking to say. We were going through a time where we didnt know if we would lose the roof over our head because i was not working. Stupid spine of mine. The Lord has been faithful and though we are in the years of famine right now, instead of the years of plenty, i know that there are those out their who do no know my lrecious savior and that is worse than anything i have gone thru. Praying for you. Julie Collette-Thompson
Great post Liv. Love the song!
I do like this group a lot…love the sound. I guess I’ve always been a bit of an irish music lover, which this definitely has that feel. These words are pretty amazing, and it certainly helps to see them in print…you know how I can hear words that aren’t really there or think I hear something different than they are. I loved how you related it with Psalm 33….niiiiice! And just because I might not like ‘one’ song doesn’t mean I can’t like others.
